The symptoms that characterize this disease is soft to watery mucoid stools that may progress to bloody and red to brownish followed by

Prevention

  • If fever due to secondary infections, give Ampicillin or Amoxicillin, each with a dose of 250 mg.
  • If the dog looks weak because of dehydration, immediately take it to the vet to be given an intravenous infusion of fluid replacement as soon as possible and vitamin B12 injections and antibiotics, such as ampicillin.
  • If excessive bleeding, injection with vitamin K.
