Symptoms of Canine Hepatitis

Starting decreased appetite, lethargy and high fever over 40 degrees for 1-6 days. After that the temperature is back to normal but then rose again. Like looking for a cool place, such as the bathroom. Her eyes swollen membranes followed by a red eye (conjunctivis). Visible liquid on the eyes and nose, a clear watery fluid.

Dogs who have severe pain visible amber skin and blood coming out hard freezes. The white part of the eyes look yellow old. If left alone it will continue with blindness, pallor, anemia, sometimes bleeding gums, backs hunched to endure pain in the abdomen, bleeding in the mouth, nose and anus. There is swelling in the head, neck and legs then continues with commas and end with death. Sometimes dogs die suddenly without prior symptoms.

Prevention

  • Perform vaccination as early as possible.
  • Keep the cage sanitation routine.
  • Food and beverages are provided must be finished in one day.
  • Provide regular worming.
  • Give vitamins and minerals in sufficient and routine.
  • Dogs suspected ill should be removed.


Treatment

  •  To protect the dog from a secondary infection, given Amoxicillin.
  • Give vitamins to strengthen the liver.
  • Infuse the essential amino acids or glucose and dextrose.
  • Can be given ORS and cortisone.
  • Can be helped with ginger to help the liver function and increase appetite.
  • Dogs who are recovering in the next month still can excrete the virus through urine and can infect other dogs are nearby. So keep it separate from other dogs .
