The cause is parasites or protozoa that attacks the small intestine. Dogs are usually infected through ingestion of infective oocysts.

Causes

Coccidiosis is caused by infection with Isospora canis, Isospora Rivolta, and Isospora bigemia which the parasite directly attack the small intestine tract. The signs are hard to detect initially. The dog will become dehydrated and then continued with the great deaths.

The disease is common in puppies 1-8 months of age. Adult dogs and older dogs more stubborn and more resistant to attack this disease but it can be a permanent source of disease transmission (carrier). Characterizes the symptoms of the disease started from decreased appetite, watery feces bloody mucus.

Severity of the disease depends on the extent of the attack dogs Oocyt Isospora Coccidiosis and participation ingested bacteria as a cause of secondary infection. Puppies are the most susceptible animals against this disease coccidiosis.
